Trauma-Responsive Practice in Education
Trauma-informed care is all about understanding that difficult experiences can deeply affect a person. It means shifting our focus from "What's wrong with you?" to "What happened to you?" and then, most importantly, "How can I help you feel safe and supported?" As a trauma-responsive practitioner in education, this means I ensure to create a learning environment where everyone feels secure and respected. I aim to understand the root of challenging behaviours and then use strategies that build trust, offer choices, and empower individuals to thrive. It's about fostering resilience, growth, mutual respect and care. Not just 'managing' behaviours.
